Counting packaging straps

At the packaging line of ArcelorMittal a final check is done by operators to ensure the delivery of high quality coils to our customers. Several cameras assist the operators of ArcelorMittal while they are inspecting the coils.

One of the important final checks is the number of packaging straps. For safety reasons our customers request a specific amount of packaging straps around coils (between 1 and 7 straps). While doing the final check the operators often have to add packaging straps. After placement of these straps the cameras automatically inspect each coil to verify the amount of straps. This way we can guarantee 100% customer satisfaction.

This system is currently in production on a pilot line for 3 months. The first results exceed expectations.
